A large crowd gathered on the courthouse lawn on Monday morning for a Memorial Day observance led by Wakulla Veteran Service Officer Winston Murphy.

Of fallen veterans who died in service of our country, Murphy said: “We owe them more than can ever be repaid, but we must try.” And those efforts should be directed at improving our nation, holding to democracy, ‘In honor of those who accepted death for the love of their country.”
County Commissioner Mike Kemp, an Army National Guard veteran and retired sheriff’s deputy, was keynote speaker and he spoke of the blessing of freedom that citizens have a result of sacrifice of those who gave all.
