The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is hosting a Memorial Day Observance at 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Wakulla County Courthouse.

“Honoring those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms is crucial,” said Winston Murphy, Veterans Services Officer. “Please join us on May 27, 2024, to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers, veterans, and their families.”
Commissioner Mike Kemp will be the keynote speaker at the event, and the Wakulla Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4538 will perform the laying of the wreath.
After the conclusion of the ceremony at the courthouse, the local American Legion Post 114 will hold a flag raising ceremony at Eden Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 12 noon. Some members from the American Legion made repairs to the flagpole earlier this month in preparation for this event.
The Wakulla VFW will be holding its 2nd Annual Memorial Day Celebration and Community Day at the post at 475 Arran Road in Crawfordville from 11:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m..
This event will feature raffles, a silent auction, and a cake walk, as well as concessions and a flag retirement ceremony.
