On July 24, Allison Taylor Metcalf, of Crawfordville, was proposed to by Joe McGehee, of Tallahassee, at the summit of Mount Fuji in Japan. Allison is the daughter of Jeff Metcalf and Jennifer Williams, and is a proud graduate of Wakulla High School’s Class of 2014. Adorned in their prized Worm Gruntin’ T-shirts, Allison and Joe set out on the hike of a lifetime over a 36 hour journey to and from the highest peak in Japan, and sought to represent Sopchoppy and Wakulla in the far east. Allison is currently pursuing a PhD in science education at Florida State University. “This may be the highest a worm gruntin shirt has ever tasted the air!” says Joe, who is a civil defense attorney in Tallahassee.
