Special to The Sun
Cameryn Lariscy, an 11th grade student at Wakulla High School, has put her certifications in Digital Design, Foundations of Web Design, and Engineering courses to remarkable use.
Cameryn’s skills, honed through WHS’s CTE Program, have allowed her to make a meaningful impact on her community.
Two years ago, Cameryn tragically lost a close friend and neighbor after the family relocated to Texas. With compassion and creativity, she worked closely with the child’s mother to design a WordPress website for a non-profit that organizes annual golf tournaments in memory of her late friend. Drawing from the technical knowledge she gained at WHS, Cameryn’s website includes dynamic features like payment options, sponsorship levels, and a donation button – all components she learned in her coursework.
The results have been phenomenal. In its first year, the website helped raise $20,000. This year, the 2nd annual tournament concluded with a total of $46,100 raised. Cameryn continues to maintain the site, demonstrating her dedication and skill.
The talents she developed at WHS have led to a positive and lasting impact.
