Hurricane season starts

Lt. Tom Mallon of the Sheriffโ€™s Office, and Emergency Management Director Jennifer Nagy were at Lunar Bay Coffee on Friday, May 29, to talk to residents about preparing for Hurricane season, which started June 1. Nagy especially wanted people to be aware of their flood zone.

The Wakulla County 4-H Community Pride Project took a powerful step toward youth awareness and prevention this year with โ€œPrevention Before Intervention,โ€ a teen town hall created by youth, for youth. Led by Emily Zak and co-hosted by Caden Gruebel, the event opened honest conversations about substance use, mental health, peer pressure, leadership, and the importance of connection within the community.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP: Budget done, property taxes on deck

TALLAHASSEE โ€“ Florida heads into the hurricane season with a budget now in place, even if for a second consecutive year it took longer than expected, with a third special session on the horizon.
Lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a $114.5 billion spending plan Friday, wrapping up a special session to complete the budget 77 days after they failed to do so during the regular session.
