Administrator says county isnโ€™t interested in land trade with forest service

A decades-old proposal for a land swap between Wakulla County and the U.S. Forest Service is off the table, according to County Administrator David Edwards.
In a recent interview, Edwards said that Assistant County Administrator Somer Pell was sending a letter to the forest service that would say that Wakulla County is โ€œno longer interested at this time.โ€

County reportedly makes deal with McQuary

About the time the Wakulla Sun was being sent to the printer last week with a story about local businessman David McQuary complaining about his treatment by the county, he had a meeting with County Administrator David Edwards and County Commissioner Ralph Thomas โ€“ and McQuary said the county officials made him a deal that took care of his concerns.

Crawfordvilleโ€™s Palaver Tree Theater hosted a private screening of a short film titled โ€œGalaxy Trollsโ€ for the participants and the parents of the children who appeared in the film.
โ€œGalaxy Trolls,โ€ which screened Tuesday, Nov. 25, is a short bit of film thatโ€™s a sample of what the longer movie is supposed to look like.

Correction

  • A Public Notice that appeared in last weekโ€™s newpaper on Page 3 was the wrong advertisement and was submitted by county government in error.
    The ad was supposed to be about Dangerous Dogs and the Animal Control Appeal Board that will be on the county commission agenda at their meeting on Dec. 8.
    The ad that mistakenly ran was about a vote on the county charter that was held in March 2020.
    The corrrect Public Notice appeared the Tallahassee Democrat issue on Nov. 28.

State Rep. Jason Shoaf, R-Port St. Joe, joined the Florida House in 2019 after winning a special election and has been reelected three times. Shoafโ€™s sprawling district covers a largely rural region made up of Dixie, Franklin, Gulf, Hamilton, Lafayette, Liberty, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla and parts of Jefferson and Leon counties. Shoaf is chairman of the House Transportation & Economic Development Budget Subcommittee.
