Three inmates at the Wakulla County Jail reportedly recently overdosed on fentanyl or some other opioid and were treated with Narcan and subsequently taken to Tallahassee Memorial for treatment.

Citizen Bill Catalina was at last weekโs county commission meeting to blame commissioners โ especially Chairman Ralph Thomas โ for problems at the Wakulla Airport and not firing volunteer airport manager Steve Fults.
Catalina made the comments at the Jan. 5th county commission meeting during the citizens to be heard portion of the meeting. He went to the podium with a protest sign complaining about Fults.

About 100 volunteers turned out Saturday morning at the parking lot of the Wakulla County Sheriffโs Office to build beds.

As we go into the New Year, I want to thank our readers, advertisers and contributors as we start our fourth year as The Wakulla Sun.
We started the newspaper in February 2022 โ me, salesperson Lynda Kinsey and graphic artist/production supervisor Eric Stanton along with reporter Riddhi Patel โ after leaving The Wakulla News over differences with the new owners. Except for Patel, the others of us had worked at the newspaper for decades.

The inmate who allegedly smuggled a pistol into a secure area of the jail, also brought in a meth pipe, according to the charging document.
Wakulla County Jail inmate James Hollis was charged last week with smuggling a handgun inside the secure area of the jail, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Wakulla Sheriffโs deputies were called to the home of a former deputy who wanted an incident reported in which former Major Dale Evans had sent an accusatory email claiming the woman had stolen his cell phone.

Wakulla County Jail inmate James Hollis was charged last week with smuggling a handgun inside the secure area of the jail, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Sun first reported on the situation a couple of weeks ago, but did not name the inmate under investigation because criminal charges hadnโt been filed.
