The superintendent of schools accepts award on behalf of district

Wakulla Superintendent of Schools Rick Myrhe accepted this years Champion Award from the Wakulla Economic Development Commission.
Myrhe, recovering from recent cancer surgery, told EDC members that he hadnโ€™t personally overseen the school districtโ€™s accomplishments praised by EDC, but that he would accept the award on behalf of the schools.

Mike Kempโ€™s case set fortrial in March

Former county commissioner charged with using public record to harass an individual, tampering

Former County Commissioner Mike Kempโ€™s felony cases have been put on the docket for a trial in March 2026, with docket sounding on March 4 and jury selection set for March 16.
Kemp was offered a deferred prosecution agreement, but appears to have declined to accept it. Kemp faces felony charges of using information from a public record to harass, a third-degree felony, plus a charge of tampering with a witness.

The small-batch bakery and coffee shop is in the old Sopchoppy Bank building in downtown Sopchoppy. They even have the bankโ€™s old safe.

The Wakulla War Eagles went down in a tough defeat to the Chiles Timberwolves on Friday night, 23-21, falling to 1-2 on the season.
It was a mistake-prone game with penalties that severely affected the War Eagles: penalties for holding negated three Wakulla touchdowns.
Without those calls, Wakulla would have won easily.

20 years for human trafficking

Man is charged with sex trafficking a juvenile at a Wakulla motel

A 22-year-old Crawfordville man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison last week for human trafficking a young girl for sex.
The man, Sky Skidmore, entered a plea of guilty to the negotiated sentence on Tuesday, Aug. 26 before Wakulla Circuit Judge Layne Smith.
