Land transfer opposed
Sierra Club against exchange of forest service land for horseman’s facility

The Sierra Club expressed its opposition to a land transfer between Wakulla County and the Apalachicola National Forest.
What had been proposed by the county commission more than a decade ago was a trade of a 200-acre parcel of forest land off Ivan Church Road for the 163-acre parcel owned by the county currently used as an equestrian center.
Legislative delegationmeets Friday
Sen. Corey Simon and Rep. Jason Shoaf will be at commission chambers on Nov. 7 from 2-4 p.m.

The family of a Sopchoppy man, Tommie Webster, claim that Wakulla Fire Rescue paramedics refused to treat him after a 911 call to his home on Monday, Oct. 27 around 10:30 p.m.

- Last week’s front page story on the county commission meeting that included a brief on the amount of funding for Florida Wild Mammal Association gave the wrong amount. The commission voted 4-1 to give $8,500 to the group which cares for injured and orphaned animals.
• The On the Horizon calendar gave the wrong time for the county commission meetings. The meeting time for county commission meetings has been changed to 6 p.m. as of November.

Shrine Club hosts a turkey shoot on Saturday

The Wakulla Shrine Club hosted its annual turkey shoot of the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The event was held at the Shrine Club building, 4141 Crawfordville Hwy. Proceeds from the event support the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which focus on orthopedic conditions, burns, cleft lip/palate, and spinal cord injuries. The organization provides care to children at no cost to families.
War Eagles fall to Gadsden, 28-20
Wakulla ends the regular season with a 6-4 record going into a bye week before the playoffs start the following week

The Wakulla War Eagles fell to 6-4 on the year after falling to the Gadsden Jaguars 28-20 on a chilly night in Havana.
The War Eagles were up 13-12 at the end of the third quarter, but the Jaguars burned up half the fourth quarter on a long scoring drive that culminated in a touchdown and 2-point conversion to go up 20-13.
4-H holds Teen Leadership Summit
