The Wakulla County School Board unanimously approved a proclamation last week designating Oct. 14 as โ€œCharlie Kirk Day of Peaceful Civic Discourseโ€ in Wakulla County Schools.
The proclamation, approved at the Sept. 15 school board meeting wasrecommended by Superintendent Richard Myhre.
Kirk, the conservative speaker, was assassinated on Sept. 10.

Sex offender arrested after attending school event

The Wakulla County Sheriffโ€™s Office arrested a registered sex offender last week after he reportedly was on a local school campus for an event while children were present and did not notify school officials prior to his attendance.
Joshua Martin, 39, was arrested on Sept. 16 on a warrant by the WCSO Crime Suppression Unit and booked into the Wakulla County Jail.
