City reverses itself on radio tower for first responders

Vote of 4-1 to allow new radio tower for county communication system in residential area

The Sopchoppy City Commission voted 4-1 last week to approve the construction of a 300-foot emergency communications tower at last weekโ€™s meeting, after studies showed that the location at the corner of Park and Gulf streets is the only viable location.

SOAR Store opens at Wakulla High School

In order to combat the growing behavior problems in the school system, Wakulla High Librarian and Teacher Victoria Pope has created the โ€œSOARโ€ program, which is designed to incentivize positive behavior in students in and out of school.
Pope said she wanted to โ€œDevelop something really positive for students,โ€ and that the program is her way of doing that.

City commission votes to remove Sheddan as mayor

St. Marks Mayor Paul Sheddan was removed from office at the city commission meeting last week, as a result of a 3-0 vote from the members of the commission who were present. They selected Steve Remke to take over as Mayor of St. Marks in a following vote, which also passed 3-0.
Commissioners Dan Albers and Sheddan were absent from the meeting, leaving Mayor Remke, Commissioner Paula Bell, and Commissioner Sharon Rudd to decide on these issues.
