The Rural Economic Development Initiative held its quarterly meeting at Wakulla Environmental Institute on Friday, March 28.
The meeting included updates from numerous organizations – including from J. Alex Kelly, secretary of Florida Commerce – on rural initiatives.

The annual Lions Club St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is Saturday, March 15.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. and travels down U.S. Highway 319.
After the parade, there will be arts and crafts vendors, food and entertainment at Hudson Park until 2 p.m.

A Hazardous Materials team from the Tallahassee Fire Department was called to assist the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office last week after a deputy suffered posssible chemical exposure.

A front page story last week about student chefs mixed up a couple of judges in the competition: Chef Jorge Sanchez is with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and Irvin Morales is the manager of San Marco restaurant.
Additionally, a picture of one of the student chefs cooking misidentified the student. The student in the photo was Charlotte Forsythe – a photo of Lily Tirums is below.
