The Wakulla County School Board heard a report that Crawfordville Elementary School is now over capacity for students.
Principal Alena Crawford told school board members on Monday, Sept. 15, that her student count was at 704 that day. The school capacity is 699.

After dropping two games in a row, the Wakulla War Eagles evened their record to 2-2 with a thumping of the FAMU DRS Rattlers on Friday.
It was a โget rightโ game, with Wakulla going up 48-6 by halftime.

The Wakulla County School Board approved the districtโs budget and millage for 2025-26 at a special meeting on Monday, Sept. 8.
There were no citizens in attendance at the final public hearing.

TALLAHASSEE โ Lisa Marie Ezell, 39, of Crawfordville, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. The plea was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

The Wakulla War Eagles had a much-needed bye week to refocus after going 1-2 in the first three weeks of the season.
After a season-opening win against the Leon Lions, the War Eagles stumbled against the Taylor Bulldogs, giving them their first back-to-back wins against Wakulla, and the Chiles Timberwolves, giving them their first ever win against the War Eagles.

Wakulla Superintendent of Schools Rick Myrhe accepted this years Champion Award from the Wakulla Economic Development Commission.
Myrhe, recovering from recent cancer surgery, told EDC members that he hadnโt personally overseen the school districtโs accomplishments praised by EDC, but that he would accept the award on behalf of the schools.

Former County Commissioner Mike Kempโs felony cases have been put on the docket for a trial in March 2026, with docket sounding on March 4 and jury selection set for March 16.
Kemp was offered a deferred prosecution agreement, but appears to have declined to accept it. Kemp faces felony charges of using information from a public record to harass, a third-degree felony, plus a charge of tampering with a witness.

The county commission voted 4-1 to approve the proposed millage rate of 7.9 mills, and 4-1 to approve the tentative budget.
The lone dissenting vote was cast by County Commissioner Valerie Russell, who repeatedly told other commissioners that she wanted to give citizens a tax break.
