Citizen Bill Catalina was at last weekโ€™s county commission meeting to blame commissioners โ€“ especially Chairman Ralph Thomas โ€“ for problems at the Wakulla Airport and not firing volunteer airport manager Steve Fults.
Catalina made the comments at the Jan. 5th county commission meeting during the citizens to be heard portion of the meeting. He went to the podium with a protest sign complaining about Fults.

As we go into the New Year, I want to thank our readers, advertisers and contributors as we start our fourth year as The Wakulla Sun.
We started the newspaper in February 2022 โ€“ me, salesperson Lynda Kinsey and graphic artist/production supervisor Eric Stanton along with reporter Riddhi Patel โ€“ after leaving The Wakulla News over differences with the new owners. Except for Patel, the others of us had worked at the newspaper for decades.

The pistol in the jail

The .22 caliber pocket pistol and a meth pipe were brought in by an inmate

The inmate who allegedly smuggled a pistol into a secure area of the jail, also brought in a meth pipe, according to the charging document.
Wakulla County Jail inmate James Hollis was charged last week with smuggling a handgun inside the secure area of the jail, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

James Hollis is charged with smuggling contraband and possession of a firearm by a felon

Wakulla County Jail inmate James Hollis was charged last week with smuggling a handgun inside the secure area of the jail, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Sun first reported on the situation a couple of weeks ago, but did not name the inmate under investigation because criminal charges hadnโ€™t been filed.

Judge Flury is assigned the Mike Kemp case

Circuit Judge Ron Flury will oversee the Mike Kemp case.

Circuit Judge Ron Flury has been assigned to the case of former County Commissoner Mike Kemp after Wakulla Circuit Judge Layne Smith recused himself.
Kemp, who faces felony charges of using a public record to harass and tampering with a witness, has been set to go to trial in March.
