TALLAHASSEE – For the third consecutive week, Florida’s primary focus involved the unnerving anticipation of a major hurricane and the exhausting — and expensive — recovery from heavy rains and battering winds.

TALLAHASSEE – Recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene continued this week along the Florida Gulf Coast and throughout the Big Bend, where President Joe Biden made a brief tour of impacted areas.

Because of challenges with electricity and internet, this week’s Wakulla Sun is smaller than usual and does not include some of the regular features. It should return to normal next week.

As Hurricane Helene neared, and the county issued a mandatory evacuation order, the school district cancelled school and extracurricular activities – including Friday night’s big game against district rival Suwannee.
