About two dozen people were at the county commission meeting last week to express their concern about conditions at the animal shelter.
Many also said they were concerned that overcrowding has led to the shelter being forced to euthanize dogs.
A photo on last week’s Opinion Page illustrating the Wakulla County Historical Society’s program on local coaches set for Tuesday, Sept. 10, incorrectly identified the team: It was the 1976 Wakulla War Eagle football team.

TALLAHASSEE – Florida slowly got back to business after Labor Day weekend getaways and the first full slate of college football games.
For Capitol types, the House and Senate this week scheduled committee meetings that will start in December and lead up to the 2025 legislative session. Lawmakers also got briefed on what to expect with the state’s finances over the next three years.
And state utility regulators started formally looking at the possibility of adding nuclear power in the future.

Wakulla County Commissioner Mike Kemp was arrested Friday and charged with cyberbullying and obstruction for his role in trying to release the name of a person he believed was behind a Facebook account that had put up posts critical of him.
