It may be the same trail, but hikers have a distinctive experience each time they visit the Cathedral of Palms trail in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
“There’s something different every time,” said 71-year-old Craig Musgrove of Woodville. “You look up into the sky and the sabal palms almost touch the stars. It’s a place where you reflect on your life.”

The Rural Economic Development Initiative held its quarterly meeting at Wakulla Environmental Institute on Friday, March 28.
The meeting included updates from numerous organizations – including from J. Alex Kelly, secretary of Florida Commerce – on rural initiatives.

Wakulla County School staff attended the 2025 Florida Farm to School Conference in Orlando. The event, organized by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and was attended by Food Services staff Marina Mudryy, Kathleen Newton, Robin Ryder and Wakulla County School educators Kimberly Bartnick and Shelly Parks.

F.R.E.S.H., the group behind the annual backpack and school supply giveaway that has helped Wakulla County kids for the past 14 years, held a little dinner and awards presentation on Friday night at Palaver Tree Theater.

Wakulla 4-H Shotgun Sharpshooters Team Hits Mark at State Match

The Wakulla 4-H Shotgun Sharpshooters team traveled to Jacksonville on March 22 to compete in the annual Florida 4-H State Shotgun Match. This event is a qualifier for the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships scheduled for June in Grand Island, Nebraska.
