On a mild February morning, the 4-H Nature Crew Club set out on an adventure that blended education, exploration, and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Wakulla County. Their destination—Wakulla Springs State Park, one of Florida’s ecological treasures, became both classroom and playground as club members immersed themselves in learning about freshwater ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and conservation.

Four students were all geared up with prep gloves, aprons, chef hats or team bandanas, and a couple with step stools, ready for the Future Chefs culinary Competition National Challenge by Sodexo at Wakulla High School on Thursday night.
One child was chosen from each elementary school in the district to participate in the challenge.

History program set on Apalachee Indians

The Wakulla County Historical Society invites you to attend our Second Tuesday History Talk on thatching and the history of the Apalachee Indians.
The slideshow presentation by Nelson Martin will be held on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at the Wakulla County Public Library, 4330 Crawfordville Hwy. Martin will also talk some about the Calusa Indians who are the focus of the museum of Natural History.

Special session needed for property tax, DeSantis says

Gov. Ron DeSantis said the effort to offer voters property tax relief will require time beyond the regular session.
With the regular 60-day session set to end March 13, DeSantis claimed that despite the House approving property tax relief legislation (HJR 203), the Senate agrees with him that the creation of a November ballot item on homestead property taxes will be addressed after that date.
