County Commission Chair Fred Nichols held a town hall meeting in Panacea to listen to issues of local concern.
The town hall was held Tuesday, July 29, at the Panacea Community Center.
A productive hour and a half of meaningful dialogue covered important topics including the upcoming budget, grants, the one-cent sales tax, community growth, and FEMA floodplains.

Just in time for the start of the new school year, there’s been an adjustment to the school zone at Medart Elementary.
The school, located on Highway 98 just beyond the triangle where U.S. Highway 319 forks off towards Sopchoppy, has long had school zone flashers that tend to surprise unsuspecting drivers on the road, where the speed limit is 55 mph, and suddenly they come upon the flashing school zone lights and a drop in speed limit to 20 mph.

Christian Nicolas of Wakulla, Florida, has completed IMPACT new student orientation and enrolled at Troy University for the Fall 2025 semester at the Troy Campus.
The fall semester for the Troy Campus starts on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Forty Teachers were selected from 280 applicants for the 2025 Florida Teacher’s Tour!
The theme of the 2025 tours was “Sustainable Forestry.” The guides demonstrated how social, economic, and ecological solutions are being integrated across the forestry landscape to ensure the sustainability of Florida’s natural resources. There are more than 5,000 uses for wood, wood fiber, and by-products.

Five members of the Wakulla 4-H Bits and Bridles Horse Club competed in Western riding events at the 4-H Area North Horse Show held at the Clay County Fairgrounds May 2 – 3, 2025. Braelynn-Anne Cilano, Miles Campbell, Rebecca Hughes, and Riley Schaefer all competed in the Junior division. Riley Manning competed in both Junior and Intermediate division classes.
