Artulla arts festival held at Wakulla Springs

A three-day art event was held at Wakulla Springs Lodge wrapping visitors in the beauty and inspiration of the natural surroundings. Live painting, a craft show and auction was enjoyed with proceeds benefitting the Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park.

Taylor Thorne is Wakulla’s first student to attend Harvard

Taylor Thorne, A senior at Wakulla High, has committed to attending Harvard University in the fall. This achievement will make her the first person to attend Harvard from Wakulla High, and the second person to attend an Ivy League from Wakulla High.

Corrections

A story in last week’s issue, “4-H Speech Contest held in Wakulla” misidentified the youth in the accompanying photo, it was Daniel Class, not Jace Perez.
Additionally, the story should have noted that the cash prizes for winners were memorial scholarships in honor of Aimee Sachs.

Eagle Scout honored

County Park Director Cody Solburg presented Eagle Scout Ryan Ladwig with a commendation for his project constructing pathways at Shell Point Beach for people with monility issues, such as wheelchairs, that allow them to access the beach with ease. The award was presented at the county commission meeting on Monday, May 6. The Wakulla Sun featured Ladwig and his project in a story in the April 18th issue. (Photo by William Snowden)
