Sedita Charles Cayson, 59, of Panacea, was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison last month after being found guilty of five counts of willfully failing to file his income tax returns for tax years 2017-2021, at the conclusion of a prior day-and-a-half bench trial. The sentence imposed was announced by Michelle Spaven, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Wakulla 4-H program leader Dr. Rachel Pienta announced today that the 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held Tuesday April 1, 2025 at 6:15 PM at the Wakulla County Extension Office located at 84 Cedar Avenue in Crawfordville. Youth from five Wakulla schools will participate and the winners from this contest will advance on to the final district competition in Leon County.

The Coastal Optimist Club enjoyed their lunch at Myra Jeans on Thursday, March 20 while Brandon Geiger, Assistant Planning Director for Wakulla County, presented updates about our fast growing community on residential housing and commercial developments.
According to Geiger, the most recent subdivisions under construction at this time are The Flowers subdivision located off Bloxham Cutoff Road by Ben Boynton Construction, phases 2-4, it will have 60 units; Pleasant Ridge by Pafford Construction located off Martin Luther King Road, it will accommodate 96 units; Misty Springs is also underway by D.R. Horton Homes off Council Moore Road and will add 74 more homes.
The Lions Club held its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival on Saturday and had a big crowd lining the parade route, above.

A teacher in Wakulla High School’s diesel mechanic vocational program has been charged with four cases of misdemeanor battery for allegedly whipping four students with a bungee cord, according to an investigation by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
