The Red Hills Quail Hunting Club made a $1,500 donation last week to allow 4-H Shotgun Club members Emiliano Cadena and Parker Smith to travel to Nebraska to compete in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. The check presentation was made Thursday at Bryker Body Care.

Circuit Judge Jeremiah Hawkes takes matter under advisement; sets trial for August

Former County Commissioner Mike Kemp was in court on Monday with his attorney arguing for dismissal of two felony charges of using a public record to harass and tampering with a witness. The motion was heard by Circuit Court Judge Jeremiah Hawkes, who did not immediately rule, but gave Kemp’s attorney, Stephen Webster, and Wakulla Chief Prosecutor Andrew Deneen another day to file any last minute responses to matters.
A couple of Republican candidates for Congress, Keith Gross and Evan Power, above with County Commissioner Fred Nichols, visited Wakulla last week for meet & greet at Tropical Trader, sharing their views.
Carrie Hughes has announced her candidacy for Wakulla County Commission, District 4, focusing on responsible growth, transparency, and protecting the county’s character. Hughes was raised in Tallahassee and has lived in Wakulla County for the past 20 years. Her husband, Lex, and his family have called Wakulla home for nearly 40 years. Not long after Hughes relocated, her sister joined her and raised children here who have since graduated from Wakulla High School, further strengthening the family’s deep roots and lasting commitment to the community.
Principal: Amy Bryan Achievements/Reason for Nomination: Gunner Allen has been selected as Wakulla Middle School’s Student of the Week for his outstanding dedication, versatility, and positive presence both in and out of the classroom. A talented athlete, Gunner competes on the school’s track and field team, where he excels in the 800-meter run, 100-meter dash, and long jump. He also demonstrated endurance and commitment during cross-country season, competing in 2K races.
