‘Tate’ premiere set

The movie, set in Tate’s Hell, was shot in Wakulla, benefits historical society

The first fictional film on the legend of Tate’s Hell, a dangerous cypress swamp located in the Carrabelle and Apalachicola areas, is scheduled to premiere this weekend, according to two local filmmakers.
The short 32-minute movie was filmed on locations in Wakulla County by Stacy Brown of Crawfordville and Joey Badia of Tallahassee. It features three local actors, Travis Herndon, Jessica Parker and Herb Donaldson, all of Crawfordville.

Stuart Mauney murder trial slated next week

Charged with murder for the December 2021 killing of a man in the Purify Bay Road area

Jury selection is expected to get underway in the murder trial of Suart Mauney, who is charged with killing a man in the Purify Bay Road area back in December 2021. He was arrested and charged in February 2022 after investigation by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
