Jury recommends death penalty for Hertz by 10-2

He was charged with the 1997 murders of Keith Spears and Melanie King

After a week of testimony, it took a 12 person jury only an hour to return a recommendation that Guerry Wayne Hertz should face the death penalty for a double murder.
Hertz, along with co-defendants Jason Looney and Jimmy Dempsey, was convicted in 1999 of the murder of Melanie King and Keith Spears that took place back in July 1997 in a home invasion robbery.

County gets $20M

Money is for economic development to attract two businesses to Opportunity Park
