4-H holds road cleanup

4-H members prepare to clean the roadside.

At the start of each 4-H club meeting, members pledge their hands to larger service. Throughout the year, Wakulla 4-H members put these words into action as they learn about their community through various hands on activities.
Wakulla 4-H members along with adult volunteers cleaned Songbird Avenue, a stretch of local roadway that runs from 319 near the Publix shopping center through the Songbird and Hammocks neighborhoods. Participating youth members included Caden, Libby, Jenniffer, and Vanessa.
The organization recently adopted the one-mile-long road section as part of Keep Wakulla County Beautiful’s Adopt a Road program. 4-H youth were excited to see the Adopt a Road signs posted and are looking forward to seeing additional street sign installation that includes original artwork by local artist Rachell Mathis. 4-H members have committed to cleaning the adopted roadway 4 times throughout the calendar year. The community is invited to join the effort and dates for future clean up events will be posted on the Wakulla 4-H Facebook page.
