Busy Saturday ahead

You have your pick of activites for Saturday, beginning with the Coastal Cleanup at Woolley Park in Panacea which starts at 8 a.m
Unity in the Community holds its annual luncheon at the Community Center beginning at noon to honor those contributing to Wakulla.
The Festival of Joy is at Wakulla Springs Lodge from 1 to 4 p.m., celebrating special needs kids with a party.
And the Rotary Club of Wakullaโ€™s Boots & Bingo will be held at 3Y Ranch beginning at 6 p.m. The event is Rotaryโ€™s big fundraiser of the year for the clubโ€™s community projects.

Janice Brown 90th birthday

Janice Pelt Brown is celebrating her 90th birthday on Sept. 21st at Wildwood Seineyard from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Janice was born Sept. 12th, 1935, and raised in Crawfordville. She has lived here most of her 90 years. She also lived other places around the globe, such as Tripoli, Libya, due to her now-late husband, Lonnie Brown being in the U.S. Air Force and traveling extensively during his time in Korea and Vietnam.

Changes in this issue of The Sun

If it appears weโ€™ve shuffled pages around, sorry โ€“ our printer had problems with one of its presses, and in reaction weโ€™ve had to change up where certain pages appear.

TALLAHASSEE โ€“ Florida heads into the Labor Day weekend amid swirling questions about the stateโ€™s immigrant-detention efforts.
Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that federal immigration officials are deporting detainees โ€œvery quicklyโ€ from a controversial Everglades facility dubbed โ€œAlligator Alcatraz.โ€ DeSantis made the comment when asked about reports that the Everglades facility would soon be empty.

TALLAHASSEE โ€“ Florida leaders made a show this week of bringing back from California an immigrant involved in a deadly traffic crash and removing locally approved artwork โ€” including gay pride rainbow colors โ€” from crosswalks.
But Gov. Ron DeSantisโ€™ administration found itself late Thursday rushing to appeal a federal judgeโ€™s ruling that targeted the controversial immigrant-detention center in the Everglades dubbed โ€œAlligator Alcatraz.โ€
