Wakulla Wonderful is a celebration of county’s founding, March 9th

The Wakulla Wonderful event is back! On Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wakulla 4-H invites the Board of County Commissioners, all elected county officials, our business community and all citizens to join Wakulla 4-H at the Wakulla County Courthouse square on High Road for a celebration of Wakulla’s founding and community history.

Rental controversy

The school board approves, 3-2, raising cost of renting school facilities

At a school board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16, a new policy on the use of facilities was approved that sees a steep rise in the cost of renting school facilities.
Superintendent of Schools Bobby Pearce said the policy was prompted by concerns that some individuals were using school facilities to run a business.
The school board voted 3-2 to approve the change: Chair Cale Langston, and school board members Josh Brown and Melisa Taylor voted for; Eddie Hand and Laura Lawhon voted against.

Arbor Day

Members of the garden club were at the county commission meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16, with examples of the native trees they planned to give away on Saturday – and they gave away 1,500 trees at the 20th annual Arbor Day tree giveaway. They also planted two live oaks at the Medart Rec Park on Friday, one dedicated to Jeanne Brodhead for her accomplishments. Stories on Page 14. (Photo by William Snowden)
