The Wakulla County School Board unanimously approved a proclamation last week designating Oct. 14 as “Charlie Kirk Day of Peaceful Civic Discourse” in Wakulla County Schools.
The proclamation, approved at the Sept. 15 school board meeting wasrecommended by Superintendent Richard Myhre.
Kirk, the conservative speaker, was assassinated on Sept. 10.

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office arrested a registered sex offender last week after he reportedly was on a local school campus for an event while children were present and did not notify school officials prior to his attendance.
Joshua Martin, 39, was arrested on Sept. 16 on a warrant by the WCSO Crime Suppression Unit and booked into the Wakulla County Jail.

The Wakulla County School Board heard a report that Crawfordville Elementary School is now over capacity for students.
Principal Alena Crawford told school board members on Monday, Sept. 15, that her student count was at 704 that day. The school capacity is 699.

After dropping two games in a row, the Wakulla War Eagles evened their record to 2-2 with a thumping of the FAMU DRS Rattlers on Friday.
It was a “get right” game, with Wakulla going up 48-6 by halftime.
