Deputy contends sheriff’s office is hostile workplace

A deputy in the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, part of the command staff, is claiming Sheriff Jared Miller fosters a hostile workplace environment.
Major Dale Evans, a longtime sheriff’s deputy who is over the office’s road patrol unit, filed a complaint against Sheriff Miller a couple of years ago – that was resolved, but he has filed new complaints about the office.

Backpack giveaway held Saturday

After holding drive-thru backpack giveaways in the outlying communities – St. Marks, Panacea, and Sopchoppy – in the weeks leading up to the start of school, Be A Hero to Our Heroes held its big final giveaway on Saturday at the community center.
