The Wakulla War Eagles faced a tough Taylor County Bulldog team on Friday night that bested Wakulla with a 27-21 win.
It was the second straight year the Bulldogs have beat Wakulla, the first time that’s happened in at least 20 years.

TALLAHASSEE – Florida heads into the Labor Day weekend amid swirling questions about the state’s immigrant-detention efforts.
Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that federal immigration officials are deporting detainees “very quickly” from a controversial Everglades facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.” DeSantis made the comment when asked about reports that the Everglades facility would soon be empty.

The Wakulla County commission voted 3-2 not to increase fees for players at the Medart Recreation Park.
The proposal to increase fees for kids playing sports by $5 drew outrage from representatives of a couple of youth associations, saying the increased costs posed a threat to the existence of their organizations.

A year ago, in August 2024, Major Dale Evans became the subject of a criminal investigation after another deputy received a text from a burner phone alerting her that she was being investigated and was going to be fired.
The deputy who received the text, not knowing who it was from, went to the department’s internal affairs department to report it. A criminal investigation was opened the next day.
On Friday August 8th The Wakulla Senior Center Chartered a bus and took a day trip to Destin.
