The Wakulla Legislative delegation will hold a meeting to discuss issues of local concern on Wednesday, Jan. 29 in the county commission chambers at 2:30 p.m.
State Rep. Jason Shoaf, R-Port St. Joe, and Sen. Corey Simon, R-Tallahassee, will be available to discuss concerns for this year’s legislative session, which starts March 3.

The annual Crawfordville Arbor Day festival will feature its signature tree giveaway and much more on Saturday, Jan. 18. Even if you have no need for a tree, visit Hudson Park between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the children’s activities that include a petting zoo, marine touch tanks, face painting, fun games, and an art contest.

Burglary suspect found hiding in ‘lair’ in his shed

Andrew Lazzell was arrested by detectives on burglary charges.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Florida Department of Corrections K-9 Team, executed a residential Search Warrant and arrested Andrew Lazzell, 39, for multiple charges.

Second straight year of state Department of Revenue warning property appraiser of ‘sales chasing’

The state Department of Revenue has issued an advisory letter to the Wakulla Property Appraiser’s Office that the 2024 tax roll showed signs of selective reappraisal.
The office also received an advisory letter the year before, for the 2023 tax roll, also citing selective reappraisal.
